Wave test, stability and durability report – TEMPO-DAM ® 2018
In the summer of 2018 the TEMPO-DAM ® was successfully tested by the Danish Hydraulic Institut (DHI) in the “Ports and Offshore Technology” department.
The TEMPO ® team wanted to test the TEMPO-DAM ® for its stability in waves under as real-life conditions as possible. This means the barrier should just be rolled out on the floor/ground without sandbags or anything else applied in form of extra weight or water tightening products.
Other dams of this type can withstand static (still) water, but not many can handle waves. One other manufacturer of triangular dams of tarpaulin like the TEMPO ® has had a wave test done, but they used expanding foam sealant under the front end of the barrier and placed extra sandbags on top of the gravel bags they used as ballast on the front leading edge.
The TEMPO ® team wanted to create a barrier that was indifferent to normal seepage and did not need extra ballast or water tightening products at the front end.
After a lot of testing and experimenting, including 7 days at the DHI wave test facility in Hørsholm, in 3 different test rounds, we finally had a dam that was stable in waves. It handled up to 35 cm waves at 90% water depth and could withstand even bigger waves.

WARNING:
The TEMPO ® team warns that this report cannot be used as documentation or guideline for any other barriers of this type, because it can lead to catastrophic results. The TEMPO-DAM ® tested has a unique construction, that insures the stability.
